Stamped metal shingles run 40 to 60 years in our field data. Systems from manufacturers like DECRA, ProVia, and Worthouse are engineered to read as architectural shingles, shakes, or slate from the street while performing like metal underneath, and the fastening is concealed, which keeps the exposed screw problem off the table entirely.

The interlocking panels are smaller than standing seam sheets, which means more pieces and more edges, but every fastener hides under the next course. The service points that decide the range are valleys and debris. Shingle-profile roofs have more texture, so leaves and needles hold moisture against the finish in shaded valleys if nobody clears them.

Finish choice moves the clock here more than most buyers expect. The same stamped profile is sold in both PVDF and budget SMP finishes, and on a south-facing Tennessee slope the difference shows by year 15. If the goal is the top of the 40 to 60 range, the finish spec is where it is bought.
